My First Crop!

FirstCrop2 (209k image)

Lookee, lookee! Peaches! My baby tree set it’s first crop of peaches! How cool is that?! I don’t know if they’ll ripen at this early age or not, but I’m going to leave them there. The yard is really blooming these warm days. The nights are still coolish but the days have been nearly hot! I have roses, peonys, columbine, the Forget-me-nots are blooming as well as iris, buttercups, the oriental poppies and gobs of others. And it’s so green! We put the garden in the last few days, there’s space to add more as we go but it’s a start.
Oh yes… the birds have flown. Kept the cats in for the last two days but there was no sign of the babies yesterday, & the parents have quit making their encouraging noises, so I let them out this morning. Robin was at the window yesterday yelling “oooout nooowooo!” lol
And Randy has the new shed in place and the dirt from the building site hauled off and the temp woodshed torn down, and we are starting to fill in the mosquito breeding ground… so we are making progress here!
More looms to ship on Tuesday and I am even getting the weaving done for a summer top. I bought the cotton at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival.
Hope you are having a warm and Safe holiday! πŸ™‚

There have been three once before. but I’ve never seen four! What busy people these parents have been! :O Just wanted to share our latest family portrait. πŸ˜€

WooHoo!!

Strawberry2 (336k image)

The Strawberry Man was in town! He picked me out a special flat of berries, not a bad on in the batch! And he added an extra big handfull to the basket of cherries I also bought! They smell soooooo gooood!
I love strawberry season. There’s no perfume in the world as wonderful as driving home from town with a flat of strawberries in a warm car! Love it.
Unfortunately., the 4 bags of manure I bought today kind of ruined that effect this time! :hehe: But it will make for a better garden this summer. Give and take, huh?!

Did you see the finale of Dancing With The Stars? I thought for sure that Giles would win but was quite happy for Shane and Mark. I don’t get to vote since I watch it on my computer the day after, but that’s good, too, because I’d have a hard time deciding! But that’s my “tv” for the season, the only one I watch.
Okay, Dinner time… You can guess what that’s going to be! πŸ˜‰

Spring cleaning

lawn-work (360k image)

Worked in the loom shop in the morning but we spent the afternoon mowing, pruning, hauling off rocks and dirt from the site of the new deck… coming soon to a yard very near me! lol Cori and Robin ‘helped’. Cori by tripping us up with the tennis ball wherever we stepped and Robin just supervising. We’re both pooped but satisfied with the work we got done. It looks very pretty. πŸ˜€

Our rose bush family

jays3 (208k image)

They’re back in the rose bush again this spring in spite if the severe pruning I gave it this last fall. The babies are getting big, too, so I’m keeping an eye on them. When it looks like they’re going to have a go at fledging I’ll keep the cats in for a couple days to let them get the hang of it in comparative safety. They have been using this nest for better than 10 years now, so I guess I must have fairly good timing. πŸ™‚ Oh yeah…they are Steller Jays.

Home again!

DSC02707a (219k image)

We are once again at home in the Trinity Nat’l Forest here in North California. Glad to be home but we had a wonderful time and I’ll be anxious to go again in awhile! This is a photo taken in Utah. We visited the Arches Park and drove down the Colorado River Canyon in Utah, too. You can look at pictures all day and you’ll never know what this place is like until you actually go there yourself. The impact of it is incredible. It’s overwhelming. It’s beautiful and terrifying all at the same time. It boggles the mind how this landscape could have come about. You read about the geological forces at work, but… dang! That just doesn’t cover it!
In any case, the colors, too, are incredible and I collected quite a few baggies of dirt for my dirty pictures. Increased my range of colors by about half. Still looking for a good blue mud. If any of you know where I might find some…? πŸ˜‰
But for now we’re back making looms and filling orders for some very patient weavers!
Thank you all! πŸ˜€

West again

Hazel_Divide (89k image)

We’re in the west again. Passed over the Divide today and are in Grand Junction, Colorado for the night. We want to visit the dinosaur museum tomorrow and then we’re headed Utah way. What a huge country we live in! πŸ˜€ We’ve been visiting parks and overlooks and taking scores of pictures. Saw the Prairie dogs and a coyote today. Just really enjoying the trip, but looking forward to getting home. Not long now! I’ll let you know asap when we arrive. πŸ™‚
